Weymouth,
Dorset - Around and About
Weymouth
is a gentle fifteen minute walk along the coast past Nothe
Fort and its whistling ghost, down to the picturesque fishing harbour
visited regularly by the Tall
Ships and across into the unspoilt seaside town made fashionable by
George III two hundred years ago.
Weymouth is a traditional resort offering many fine attractions, none
more so than its tremendously long and beautiful sandy beach. In addition
there is the Pavilion
providing year round family entertainment, a brand new all-weather bowling
complex, multi-screen cinema, and the very enjoyable Sea
Life Centre.
From the harbour, diving and fishing trips can be taken as well as pleasure
cruises along the coast, there are also ferries
to France and the Channel Islands. It is here too where the award-winning
Brewers Quay
is situated with its excellent shops, restaurants, Timewalk Journey, Discovery
Zone and Craft Workshops.
Throughout the year Weymouth is host to many exciting events including
kite, Jazz and Oyster Festivals, Vintage Motor Rallies, Carnival and stunning
International Firework Displays to World Class Sporting Tournaments such
as beach volleyball, football, windsurfing and sailing competitions.
